The location:
Mt Isa is located in the North West of sunny Queensland and was established to service the mining community living there. Today it is a thriving industrial and commercial centre offering a friendly community feel with all the modern conveniences. The town has approx 20,000 residents and is located 1900km north west of Brisbane.
The position:
As the GP at Mount Isa you will work in a varied and challenging role. You will work predominantly on the mine site in a pure Occupational Medicine role. Working closely with the client your role will include pre employment medicals, injury management, return to work and rehabilitation in a team focused environment. You will work a minimum of 9 sessions per week and your excellent communication skills and ability to relate to patients, staff, the client and the wider community will ensure you will be very successful in your role.
The package:
You will be offered a generous percentage of billings and see an average of 35 – 40 patients per day. You will be required to participate in the on call and weekend rosters including Saturday and Sunday clinics on a shared basis. Gemini Medical offers excellent orientation and training programs and will manage your visa, medical board and provider number applications for you if needed.
What you need to apply:
You will be eligible for registration with the QLD Medical
Board with your FRACGP qualification or a minimum of 4 years overseas
GP experience together with AMC MCQ and IELTS. Ideally you will have formal
training in Occupational Medicine although support is offered should you
wish to increase your experience in this area.
